Review: Moto E4 Plus, Should you go for it?

Good evening everyone!

Welcome to another burning question, here on Nightlytech. Today, we take a look an new offering from the Lenovo-owned brand “Moto”, formerly Motorola and its new device the Moto E4 Plus. The main focus of this article is to highlight the features of this device while answering the burning question as to for whom is this device targetted at!

The Basics:

The Moto E4 Plus will be going live for sale on Flipkart from the 12th of July, 2017 and by the looks of it, the E4 Plus is a stripped down plastic version of the current generation Moto G5 and G5 plus variants.

Pros:

Coming to specifications, the most noteworthy addendum to the Moto E4 Plus and the E series, in general, is the battery and this one does not disappoint. Inside the Moto E4 Plus, you have a 5000 mAh battery along with the bundled high capacity turbocharger which charges the hefty 5000 mAh battery from 0 to 100% in less than three hours. Battery life on the device is also superb considering the near stock Android Nougat 7.1 and Google optimizations which ensure a battery life of up to 2 days and screen on time of more than 8 to 12 hours.

Cons:

Now that the highlight of the device is done and dealt with, let us come to the rest of the specifications. Barring the battery and the latest Android OS (for now), there is quite literally nothing positive about this device. The device is made out of plastic, feels very cheap, is powered by an aged Mediatek 6737 processor which stutters with literally anything heavy you throw at it along with very average 13MP and 5MP rear and front cameras.

In Conclusion:

The only new addition to look forward to in the E4 Plus is the fingerprint scanner which makes an entry for the very first time to the E series lineup which is also supposedly the same sensor as that of the Moto G4 from last year and so the same should be quite reliable in day to day use case scenarios.

Finally, coming to the burning question as to for whom is this device is targetted at, I would personally say that the E4 Plus is a device targetted at people looking for a secondary device with great battery life or for those who are very light users of smartphones. Anybody else should steer clear of this device absolutely as otherwise, the E4 plus is sure to leave you with a bitter experience at the end of it.

And that about does it for this piece.
